Janet Howell and David Domeniconi opened J. Howell Fine Art in Healdsburg in 2003. Located in the historic Bank of Italy Building in Healdsburg, CA in the heart of wine country. We exhibit original paintings, works on paper and sculpture by contemporary California artists.


Janet Howell

Janet is a former director of the Carmel Art Association, the second oldest non-profit artist cooperative in the United States. During her tenure at the CAA, she curated several historical exhibitions on notable early California artists and produced retrospective books from those shows, The Legacy of Percy Gray and E. Charlton Fortune, 1885-1969. in 2017 she produced a comprehensive retrospective book on Rip Matteson, A Life in Art.

Janet grew up in Sonoma County and after 16 years in Carmel, she and her husband, David, moved to Healdsburg to be closer to family and to open a gallery to represent some of their favorite California artists. She is involved locally with two non-profit organizations: Courtney’s Pumpkin Patch, which raises money for the Courtney Jade Davis Memorial Scholarship and cancer patients in the community and the Cloverdale Sculpture Trail, an annual juried public art exhibit.

David Domeniconi

David is a writer and illustrator whose works and travel columns have appeared in numerous West Coast Publications. He is the author of four children’s books: G is for Golden, A California alphabet, Golden Numbers, A California Numbers book, M is for Majestic, a National Parks alphabet and M is for Masterpiece, an art alphabet. Currently he illustrates the weekly Carmel Pine Cone “Police Log” www.carmelpolicelog.com, an illustrated column based on the actual entries from the Carmel and Pacific Grove Police Departments and his column “Road Ahead” appears quarterly in Airstream Life. When not in the gallery or at home, Janet and David are on the road in their 22 ft. Bambi Airstream Sport with their chocolate lab, Esther Brown.
